🦴 The Basics of Pet Nutrition: What Every Pet Owner Should At Least Know Tuesday, 5:32 a.m. I woke up to the sound of slurping. It was not the twins brushing their teeth or Tolu drinking straight from the tap again. Nope. It was Blaze–my overzealous German Shepherd–making strange noises in the backyard. I opened the kitchen door and saw him chewing grass like his life depended on it. Curious, I googled it. Turns out Blaze might be battling some dietary deficiencies… all thanks to a steady diet of either fufu or jollof rice. I had no idea. This, friends, is how I realized it was time to get serious about my pets' nutrition. Or at least lift a finger. 🥘 What Is Pet Nutrition, Really? Honestly, I used to think feeding dogs meant dumping rice and bones into a bowl and yelling, “Eat!”  But turns out, just like humans, pets need balanced diets—not just belly fillers. (Ghen ghen) 💡 Did You Know? Feeding your dog only carbs like rice can cause nutrient deficiency and cranky...

Teach Kids Bean-Picking!

Image
The Surprisingly Genius Life-Skill No One Talks About You probably chuckled when you saw that post by Cjay (@Cee_jayking) saying, "Teach them to pick beans." Funny? Yes. But let’s not be too quick to laugh it off, because buried in that humor is a goldmine of truth. In many African homes, “picking beans” was a childhood chore that was treated with zero ceremony but full expectation. You were handed a bowl of beans and told to sort through it, separating the good seeds from the bad, often while seated on a stool in the kitchen or during story time with grandma. But let’s break this down, because in hindsight, we were actually undergoing early training in micro-skills that build macro-excellence: 1. Attention to Detail That tiny black dot on a bean? Unacceptable. The cracked one? Nope. You learned to see beyond the surface. This wasn’t just picking beans—it was pattern recognition at its finest. Employers spend thousands teaching attention to detail. We learned it with legu...

Teach Kids, Not To Fear But To Respect Boundaries

Purpose, Boundaries, and the Lessons My Childhood Taught Me When I was young, my dad always seemed impatient with my docile nature. He had a common phrase he often repeated: "Step your feet hard on the floor!" What he meant was, Show some strength! Be resilient! Have some personality! But looking back, I sometimes wonder—how do you expect someone to have resilience when you raised them in a way that never required them to build it? I grew up in a full house. Aside from my immediate family, we often had over seven extra people living with us, making our household at least 13 people strong at any given time. My parents had five children, but in a strange way, we were never really allowed to do anything for ourselves. At nine years old, I was still being bathed, we all were, from my 11 year old brother down to my 6 year old sister. Even brushing my own teeth wasn’t something I was responsible for—there were always house helps to do everything. The Turning Point I think one of ...

Here's An Amazing Idea!

Let’s Cut Down on Delivery Costs Together! Hello! Hope you're working hard—or smart—whichever works best for you! One of my biggest challenges in running this business has been shipping and delivery costs within Lagos. You’d think that sending books within the same city would be cheaper, but that’s not always the case. For instance, I recently sent a parcel of books to Abuja for ₦4,000, which seems reasonable given the distance. But guess what? I sent the same size parcel within Lagos for the exact same ₦4,000! Even worse, I once had to send something from the mainland to the island, and it cost ₦11,000—within the same city! That’s just outrageous. A Smart Solution: Bookshops Near You This got me thinking—how can I get these books closer to my customers to help reduce these crazy shipping costs? Then an idea hit me! If you know a bookstore near you, could you tell them about my books and send me their details? I’ll personally reach out to them and see if they can stock the books....

Happy New Year (Yes, I Know It's Late)

As I Was Saying... Wow, it's been a while! This is my first blog post of the year, so I guess a Happy New Year is in order. How have you been? I've been up to my neck in book creation, working on multiple projects to stock my bookshop. It's been a busy season, but thankfully, my books have started going into print, and I can finally breathe a little! For those who don’t know me, hi! My name is Peace Olaluwoye, also known as Amaze, and I’m the creative director behind Sunday Sunday Books. By God's grace, I’ve created my first-ever 365-day devotional for children and also printed my comprehensive Bible Quiz Book for Christian families, mostly targeted at teenagers and younger children. The Pricing Struggle One of my biggest challenges has been pricing. Many books in the market are imported and unbelievably cheap, but when you check online for the real cost of those books, and see how very expensive they are, you begin to understand that there must be another reason why ...

Helping Kids Manage Their Emotions ❤️

Image
A Biblical Perspective On Emotion Regulation  In many African and Asian cultures, parenting emphasizes respect, discipline, and resilience. While these values are important, they can sometimes overshadow the need to teach children how to understand and manage their emotions. Helping children regulate their feelings is not a sign of weakness but a demonstration of wisdom rooted in the Word of God. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” This includes teaching emotional intelligence alongside discipline.   Before embarking on this emotional regulating exercise with your kids, are your own emotions under regulation? Do you know yourself enough to put your feelings into words without loosing your wits? This article addresses both the parent or caregiver and the child or recipient of care. You may even need to apply what you're about to learn here on a full grown adult.  Everyone should pr...
